3 Signs You’re Ready for Blepharoplasty

There are many cremes and over-the-counter products that claim to help maintain younger-looking eyes, however, sooner or later, age catches up. The skin around the eyes is especially delicate and thus, prone to aging. Most store-bought products are not able to counter the effects of age, and for many men and women, eyelid surgery may be the best, most rewarding option. For many of our patients at Midsota Plastic Surgery, the eyes are often one of the facial features that need a refresher. Fortunately, eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, can address the upper or lower lid, and in many cases, both.
Have you been wondering if your eyes are ready for a little refresher? Here are three signs that you’re are ready for blepharoplasty.
Reason #1: You Look Tired
Do you feel like you never look fully awake? You might be right. Puffy, saggy, and heavier eyelids can lend to a tired, never fully-rested appearance. While some feel like they look exhausted, others feel like they look sad. By lifting the upper and lower eyelid, blepharoplasty can help your eyes look wider and help you look more awake, alert, and happy. Other signs of too little sleep like dark circles and under eyebags can also be improved with blepharoplasty.
Reason #2: Injectables Are Not Doing the Trick Anymore
Are your injectable treatments accomplishing less these days? While non-surgical options like Botox® can work wonders for diminishing crow’s feet and frown lines, there is little that these non-surgical treatments can do for excess skin or drooping of the eyelids. While Botox is great for maintaining the area around the eyes, aging of the eyelids is best handled by surgical rejuvenation. By tightening or removing excess skin, eyelid surgery is able to create a smoother look of the upper eyelids, and diminish puffiness of the undereye area.
Reason #3: Your Vision is Being Obstructed
Have you found that you are constantly lifting your eyebrows in an attempt to see better? It is well-established that a hooded lid can interfere with your line of sight and especially have an impact on your peripheral vision. Blepharoplasty gently trims away any excess or drooping skin that impedes your ability to see clearly.
